Hat Praphat Village

Hat Praphat Village

Hat Praphat was completely destroyed in the tsunami, with 49 of the 200 residents losing their lives and all 70 homes lost. The Ranong Coastal Resources Management Station is the main employer in the area and has been instrumental in tsunami relief work. The army has built housing but most people are not happy with it and have remained living with their relatives away from the village.

NATR has assisted the RCRMS with the implementation of a short term labor project which helped to clear up the debris and salvage boats from the mangroves. In addition, NATR supplied drinking water to the village while the new infrastructure was being set up.
