Pak Triam, located just north of Tung Nan Dam, was completely destroyed by the tsunami—homes, boats, possessions, and lives were lost. Many families in Pak Triam were quickly adopted by relief organization, and new homes were built. Due to a rift in the village, however, 32 families were excluded from this new settlement. Under the patronage of Patong Rotary Club, the 32 families were finally able to find land, and build houses. NATR is now working with this underserved portion of the former village of Pak Triam. Community members approached NATR with a request for assistance in handicraft and tourism development. In short time, villagers were also participating in English classes and the ACE Expert program.
